Ringer is an upcoming television series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.[1][2] On May 13, 2011 TV Line reported that CBS had passed on the pilot but The CW, CBS' sister channel, had picked the show up instead.[3]

The pilot was directed by Richard Shepard; known for his work on Criminal Minds and the pilot for Ugly Betty.[4] It will be co-written by Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder.[5]

Plot

Two sisters; Bridget and Siobhan (both played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) grew apart after a tragedy in their past. Bridget has had a troubled life and takes over Siobhan's life after she disappears. She soon discovers her more successful sister's life is full of danger and that there is a hit out on her.[6] Bridget will also fall under the suspicion of Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd), her sister's husband who will notice changes in his wife's behaviour.

Production

It was announced in early 2011 that Sarah Michelle Gellar would be returning to TV in the pilot for CBS entitled Ringer. Filming for the pilot began in March 2011 in New York City.[11] Sarah Michelle Gellar will serve as executive producer alongside Peter Traugott of Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Pam Veasey, known for her work on CSI: NY, who will also work as the showrunner.[5].

The pilot was picked up to series on May 13, 2011 by The CW instead of the CBS network. Following this however, ABC Studios, who co-produced the pilot, pulled out from the series[12][13]
