Club Atlético Sarmiento is a sports institution from the city of Resistencia, in the province of Chaco, Argentina. It's mainly activity is football, being one of the most renamed football clubs in the province. The club also practice several other sport activities such as basketball, volleyball, hockey, tenis, taekwon-do, karate and swimming.

The club's football division currently play in Torneo Argentino C (regionalized fifth level of the Argentine league system). The club played one season at the highest level of Argentine football, in the National Tournament of 1977. Sarmiento finished 6th out of 8 teams in group C. The highlights of that campeign included a 2-0 win over Racing Club and 1-1 draws with River Plate and eventual finalists Talleres.

In 2008 the Club Atlético Sarmiento ended 3rd among the 4 teams in the 29th Zone of the Torneo Argentino C (is one of two leagues that form the regionalised fifth level of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) football league system), position that prevented the club from advancing to the following phase of the tournament.[1]

In June 2008 it was announced that the stadium will be completed in December 2008, and will have capacity for 22,000 spectators. They will also be remodeled other facilities of the institution.
