Akem Manah

Akem Manah [1] is a doom metal band from Eugene, Oregon. They formed in May 2009. They currently have one full-length album out, as well as two digital singles.

History

Akem Manah was formed by two former Crypt members vocalist/guitarist Dead Nedry and bass player Kyle Simms in April 2009 in Eugene, Oregon. They began jamming on material for a demo. They then recruited guitarist Mike Bonnetti and drummer Brian Murray in May. With a full line-up they would go on to do a couple live shows. In August they recorded their first self-titled demo. They continued to perform for another couple of months. Then in October, the band took a break when Nedry moved to the Seattle, Washington area for a new job. After that the rest of the band made there way up to Seattle to continue writing for an album in December.

In January, Kyle Simms was the only member still living in Eugene. He decided to leave the band because of the physical distance between himself and the other three members. So the band would recruit new bass player Robert Ingraham. This line-up would record there second demo "The Devil" in January. But, yet another member would leave the band as Mike Bonnetti was let go. They would continue one a three piece band. The band would re-record their newest demo re-entitling it "The Devil 2". In February the band would enter New Sound Studios in Seattle to record their debut album The Devil Is In All Of You. The album was originally scheduled for a May 2010 release, but saw a few setbacks because of art featuring unauthorized images of Anton LaVey and his daughter Zeena LaVey that needed to be changed.

The debut album was released on July 9, 2010 [2]. After the release of the album, they would record two additional singles the first "Children Of evil" which came out on September 17 and the other was a cover of the Electric Wizard song "Funeralopolis" of the band's 2000 album Dopethrone which was released on November 18. According to the bands Myspace page, the band had been working with former guitarist/founding member Mike Bonnetti in January & February of 2011. Thought it was stated that it hadn't worked out for unspecified reasons. According to the bands newly formed Jango page, the band had been recording new music in late 2010 & they have plans to release an EP "Horror In The Eyes".[3] It was originally set for a February 22nd release, but due to album pressing issues was pushed back to be re-pressed and now set for a March 29th release.
