Dame N'Doye (born 21 February 1985 in Thiès) is a Senegalese footballer who plays as a forward for F.C. Copenhagen of the Danish Superliga. His preferred position is as a withdrawn striker, second striker. He is the younger brother of the Senegalese international Ousmane N'Doye who plays for Astra Ploieşti.
Club career
He began his career in ASC Jeanne d'Arc in Senegal in 2003 and he played there for 3 seasons. In 2006, Al-Saad from Qatar bought him for 500,000 euros but he soon decided to move on. His next team was Associação Académica de Coimbra - O.A.F. from Portugal in where he shown his potential ability by playing 24 matches and scoring 9 goals. His good season led him to be transferred to Greek giants Panathinaikos FC for €800k. In August 2008, N'Doye was given to OFI Crete. He signed a 4½-year contract with Danish side F.C. Copenhagen on January 12, 2009.[1] The transfer fee was not disclosed, but is said to be €2 million [2] plus a €400k sign-on fee.[3]
Panathinaikos
His most memorable goal with Panathinaikos FC was in the biggest derby in Greece against Olympiacos FC. The final score was 1–1.
OFI Crete
On 14 August 2008 N'Doye signed for Greek side OFI Crete on a free transfer, because Panathinaikos F.C. manager Henk ten Cate did not figure him in his first-team plans.
Rumours in the Greek and Danish media suggested that Dame N'Doye would leave OFI Crete after only 6 months in favour of Danish club F.C. Copenhagen[4]
F.C. Copenhagen
In January 2009, Dame N'Doye joined Danish Superliga club F.C. Copenhagen for 2 mil. euros. He was presented as a new player for the Danish club on January 12. He scored his first goal on March 7, 2009 against Randers FC, as F.C. Copenhagen won 3–0. Dame N'Doye soon cemented his place in the F.C. Copenhagen starting eleven with impressive performances in the 2009–10 Danish Superliga. N'Doye finished a very successful first full season with 14 goals.
N'Doye's 14 goals helped F.C Copenhagen retain the title the Danish Superliga title, meaning that Copenhagen would start in the Third qualifying round of the 2010-11 UEFA Champions League. On 4 August 2010, N'Doye scored the winning goal in the 59th minute against Belarusian side BATE to ensure F.C. Copenhagen qualified for the Champions League Play-off round.
On the opening matchday of the 2010-11 UEFA Champions League N'Doye scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Russian Champions, Rubin Kazan. The goal was a powerful header in the 87th minute. Dame N'Doye was again on the goalscorers sheet in the next round, scoring F.C. Copenhagens first goal against his former club, the Greek champions, Panathinaikos F.C. in a 2-0 away victory. N'Doye's two goals in 2010-11 UEFA Champions League helped F.C. Copenhagen qualify for the Round of 16, an achievement that no other Danish team has ever done before.
Dame N'Doye is the current top scorer of the 2010–11 Danish Superliga with 25 goals after 30 rounds, 3 goals away from Ebbe Sand's league record of 28 goals. He and Brazilian forward César Santin have formed a productive partnership.
International career
He made his international debut for Senegal in a friendly against Guinea, where he also scored a goal.
