AirDrop (OS X) is a service unveiled with Apple's newest version of their commercial operating system, Mac OS X Lion. The service provides the ability to share files with nearby users of the operating system wirelessly through Wi-Fi. Apple has advertised the service as "a remarkably simple way to copy files wirelessly from one Mac to another with no setup."[1]

Apple's marketing slogan for AirDrop is "Send it by air". [1]
