Ralph Daniel Hendrik Barendse is born in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands. He released his first dance record under the ‘Alpha Breed’ in 1999 on Deal Records (Known for Vincent de Moor and Ferry Corsten). After releasing records as Alpha Breed, a new track of his was picked up and signed by DJ Tiësto, ‘Ralphie B – Massive’ on In Trance We Trust (Black Hole Recordings). The track became a big success and is nowadays still considered a classic. After ‘Massive’, a lot of Ralphie B remixes followed and in 2002 he released a track under a new alias: ‘Midway - Monkey Forest’. Released on In Trance We Trust. It turned out to be an instant success again. Ralphie focussed on this new Midway guise from then on, which resulted in several new tracks and remixes, including ‘Midway – Inca’ (which is featured on Tiesto’s hit-compilation ‘Nyana’) and ‘Midway – Amazon’ in 2004, featured at Armin van Buuren's mixcompilation 'Universal Religion'.
In 2005 Ralphie started a project called “First State”. The first release ‘First State - First State’ was released on In Trance We Trust. The project was responsible for many more club hits like Sierra Nevada (Tiesto in Concert DVD), Evergreen (ASOT 2007 CD) and Falling (In Search of Sunrise 6). In 2006 a First State album was finished named “Time Frame” and more remixes were done for Armin, Tiesto and 4-Strings. As a DJ Ralphie travelled the world, from South Korea to South Africa, from Ibiza to Siberia. First State was 7 times support act for Tiesto’s European ISOS Tour.
After using his magic for a few years in First State, he preferred to do his own thing again and in May 2009 Ralph decided to step out the project First State and focus again on his solo projects. First solo DJ performances followed in Indonesia and a new solo single Midway - What If and a collected works album “Equator” were released in 2010. With success again: “What If” was selected as Tune of the Week and Future Favourite by Armin Van Buuren radio show. Ralphie continued remixing Beat Service ft Emma Lock and his own classic Ralphie B - Massive by the end of 2010.
In 2011 Ralphie hooks up with Armada and which signs new tracks of his. Three new Ralphie B singles, a new project "Sun Crusaders" and a remix for Armin van Buuren's "These Silent Hearts".
