Rueben Thevandran / Burn (born April 9, 1982) is a Malaysian radio personality, television host, singer and voice Over. He is the host of Aktifdepia[1] a sports educational show and Grandstand Ahad[2], a live show review and update the latest sport happening in Malaysia on Astro Arena[3] in Malaysia and throughout subscriber including Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei. On the radio, Burn used to be a radio announcer for X-Fresh[4] before moved to Era FM[5], Malaysia's No 1 most-listened to radio network with over 4 million loyal listeners in Bahasa Malayu

Early life

Burn was born on 9 April 1982 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, the son of Joyce John, a single mother. Burn has one sister name “Sharmila” and both have been raised by his mother alone. Burn’s first time in spotlight was in the age of 22 years old after completed a diploma from The Malaysian Institute Of Integerative Media. He joined a Malaysia's first reality television show in which a number of contestants called students competed for the winning title and a chance to start their career in the entertainment industry called Akadimi Fantasia[6] or widely known as AF in the first ever season. Even though he was not a winner, Burn managed to become a successful Malaysian artist in his singing and hosting career.

Career

In 2004, after his Akademi Fantasia[7] fame, Burn was called upon to make countless tv appearances either as a Host, Guest or Singer such as Era TV[8], Fulus Mania, Hitz.TV,Xfresh TV[9] and many more. Apart from TV jobs, he is also had countless print publicity for his album ‘Ini Janjiku’ and ground events nationwide including, West Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak & Brunei. Burn’s hit single Kasih Ibu and I Can See Now earned him nominations for local award shows such as Muzik Muzik and Anugerah Era. Burn eventually moved towards TV hosting and started off hosting Fulus Mania gameshow on Astro Ria and continued on with Era TV on Astro Ria as well before joining Astro Arena[10] on an exclusive contract to host 2 programmes ‘Aktifpedia’[11] and ‘Grandstand Ahad[12] and voice over another local soccer show ‘Masa Tambahan Arena Bola’[13].

Radio

Burn’s radio career started earlier in 2004 with Xfresh Fm[14] for a total of 4 years and then moved on with Era Fm[15] for another 2 years before leaving for TV as Sports TV Host. Amongst the highlights of his radio career was the fact that he headed the prime time show on Xfresh Fm called Zon Planet X with hit segments like ‘Panggilan Kena Burn’ & ‘Usha Usha’. On Era, Burn teamed up with Cham former VE singer & also Adifashla former ‘AF’ partner on the drive show called Petang Era & Malam Era. As a top radio announcer and TV host, Burn also received endorsements from NIKE[16] , HI-5[17],Listerine[18] & Revive Isotonic[19].

Personal life

Burn is currently dating Petchlada Sopee, 27 or better known as ‘Kate’, who is from Thailand and they both met through a mutual friend who had introduced them in January 2010. Kate is currently working with ‘AIG’ a US international travel insurance firm branched in Malaysia.
