Only Maxim Galkin can parody Vladimir Putin?

Is it true as said on this blog that only Maxim Galkin can parody Vladimir Putin?--128.54.224.231 (talk) 04:48, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The only other reference I can fine it at trueslant.com, which is also user-generated. It seems more like he is the only comedian to parody Putin without angering him (unlike Kukly, for example, which the government had banned Putin puppets from after one particular parody he didn't like.) Help indentifying a piece of music for string quartet

Here's a sample of everything that's available on it.

This is played on the 1985 film Brewster's Millions and I've been trying to track it down for the last couple of months. It's not listed in the movie's ending credits and there was never a soundtrack nor a score released, and I've got reliable information denying it was composed exclusively for the film.

I've already tried Borodin and Dvorak, and some stuff sounded vaguely similar, but it's not it. Musipedia gives me plenty of junk results that sound nothing like it.

Can anyone identify it, or at least point to the right direction? Perhaps there's a particular musical element in the composition that I could use to track it down? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! — Kieff | Talk 06:43, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2011 Men's Collegiate Rugby Sevens Championship Allowed Forward Passes?

If you saw a forward pass in a rugby game, there are two possibilities: 1) You didn't, you just thought that you did 2) You saw it, but the officials did not. --Jayron32 05:27, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Holmfirth and thereabouts. They used the White Horse in Jackson Bridge/Scholes. I recall a scene with Compo tight-rope walking along the parapet of a bridge, possibly this one in Marsden near the canal tunnel portal. My favourite story is watching a cycle race on telly somewhere between Holmfirth and Holme Moss. I kept expecting Compo, Foggy and Clegg to appear, climb over the wall and start inter-acting with the riders. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:49, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uplifting pop/punk/pop-punk/techno songs?

I am interested in getting familiar with uplifting/happiness inducing pop, punk, pop-punk and techno songs, especially those written in a major key. Does anyone have recommendations as to where I should start? Thanks! 70.19.17.134 (talk) 16:53, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Happiness is somewhat subjective in music, but you may be interested in happy hardcore, which is generally 'happy', fast, and in major keys. SemanticMantis (talk) 17:20, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Film : The Robe

Why is it one cannot obtain the DVD of The Film "THE ROBE" Special Edition here in the UK Playable as Region 2 and not necessarily Blue Ray. Alan Davis — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.112.51.55 (talk) 20:54, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because Fox, who made it, don't believe it would make enough money to be financially worthwhile releasing another DVD, since there is already the standard DVD for sale both singly and in a box set, as well as a Blu-Ray, the up-and-coming format for wealthy cinephiles. Additionally, many serious British film buffs import films from the USA, meaning they may already have bought the region one version. And the market for critically-panned 1950s religious movies is not huge (Amazon's official review calls it "turgid", and they're trying to sell the thing[1]). If you want a definitive answer, it should be easy enough to contact Fox and ask them. --Colapeninsula (talk) 14:35, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wildstorm Comics Copyrights

Hi H\how can I know which of the subject of the articles in WIkipedia is owned by whom. For ex., for the "The Planetary" article it does not contain who owns those works (whether Warren Ellis or DC) under the article. My question is just who owns "The Planetary?" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.93.197.164 (talk) 06:05, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That would be determined by whatever legal agreements exist between Wildstorm, the comic books' authors, and possibly other parties too. Usually these contracts are confidential, and sometimes they're quite complicated. Occasionally (as, for example, in the case of Zenith) there can be disputes over who owns what and who did or didn't buy what from whom, problems that sometimes have to be solved by arbitration or court action. Your first port of call would be Wildstorm's legal department. -- Finlay McWalterTalk 23:01, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Star Wars, Equal use of the Force and the Darkside Character

Well no it wasn't really, was it. --Viennese Waltz 07:23, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The words are "I could use somebody like you", so the person who dedicated it to you (I assume OP means a one-time "dedication" by a friend of theirs) is affectionately requesting your services.--Shantavira|feed me 07:41, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Keep in mind that a person may request/play a song thinking it has one meaning, but are unaware of the actual subtext/meaning of the song as intended by the songwriter. You sometimes hear stories about people playing nice sounding love songs, and then getting egg on their faces because they didn't realize that the song was actually about a prostitute/transvestite/etc. A frequently "misused" song is American Woman, which is usually played as a pro-American woman anthem, whereas it was actually written as a slightly anti-American woman/pro-Canadian woman song. So even if we could tell you what the Kings of Leon meant when they wrote "You know that I could use somebody, Someone like you", we couldn't really tell you what the person who dedicated the song to you intended by it (e.g. "I could use you as a friend/confidant/long term love/booty call/etc."). As the bassist on American Woman said "John Lennon once said that the meanings of all songs come after they are recorded. Someone else has to interpret them." -- 174.31.219.218 (talk) 15:27, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pokemon

What happen to Pokemon? Why is Pokemon not for children anymore? Why is Pokemon Black and White so dark, mature and gruesome. Why are you the bad guy in this game? Team Plasma are heroes. Why only adults buy this game? What was Game Freak thinking? Will Pokemon ever be for kids again? Why is there no cute Pokemon? All of the Pokemon are really scary. And worse this game is rated Z 18 and up in Japan. And CoroCoro Comic is for adults now. It the same with Oha Suta,Pokemon Sunday and Pokemon Smash. And you play as a teenager and the Kids Next Door hate teenagers. Is there such thing as a game that is for children where you play as a teen or a adult? And there are black people in this game like Iris. Is there a children game that have black people in it? And you can be gay in this game. There people who sell drugs in this game. There are people having sex in this game. Iris can be seen running around naked. This game is just as bloody and gory as Mortal Kombat. The game is Censored in the USA but Game Freak was angry when they learn that. Why did it have to happen?Childrenjr (talk) 21:13, 8 June 2011 (UTC

Obviously, we can not answer for Nintendo's future plans.
However, it's pretty clear why they wanted a slightly more mature pokemon. Pokemon was introduced 15 years ago. If you started playing at the beginning when you were ten, you're now twenty-five. That's a very lucrative market segment. They would be crazy not to target it. APL (talk) 23:11, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I want to know if the game is still for kids or is it for adult only. Did I made most of this all up?Childrenjr (talk) 00:04, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Never played the game, so I don't know (or much care) if you're making stuff up.
Pokemon Black&White is rated "E, For Everyone". That's as much of an answer as you're going to get. We have no way of knowing Nintendo's plans or intentions. APL (talk) 01:14, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, OP! Where're you getting your information regarding the content of the Japanese release? Our article lists the CERO rating as A, and a cursory Google search didn't turn up a whiff of most of the things you told us about. Further, I read the article and it doesn't sound at all like the player's character is a villain and Team Plasma are heroes. I think someone might be pulling your leg. Further, what's objectionable about having black characters appear in a video game?71.192.116.159 (talk) 18:25, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name of a counter-terrorism style PC game

Hi there. I was hoping someone might be able to help me figure out the name of a PC game I played when I was younger (around 2000-2003), in which you first play as a counter-terrorism team through different maps all over the world, completing various objectives to get the overall mission done. All I seem to remember is that once you complete that campaign, you can play the terrorist campaign which is the same as the counter-terrorist campaign but you are playing as the agressors. I seem to remember the first level being in a desert or sandy area. Other levels I remember are one in a subway system and one in a museum where the terrorists had planted a bomb. Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm trying to recall this from memory but I was very young when I originally played it. It was an excellent game from what I remember and I'd really like to find out the name so I can play it again. Oh, and it's definitely not Counterstrike or Rainbow Six: Raven Shield. :) Thanks in advance! --92.23.247.57 (talk) 23:48, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Beatles in an Alternate Universe? 1980's sci fi show

There was a show that ran briefly on one of the three major American broadcast networks in the early eighties with the premise that a family had found a portal into alternate universes.

I was struck by the premise of one episode that the family did well in one alternate universe by introducing Beatles' songs that hadn't been written in that alternate reality.

Disaster movies

Hello all, could someone give some examples of good disaster movies that feature mountain rescues (e.g. from avalanches and/or other skiing/mountaineering accidents)? I'm a big fan of the disaster genre, and I'm looking for some of those movies to add to my collection. (I already have 127 Hours as well as High Sierra Search and Rescue -- what, no article?) By "good" I mean well-researched with regard to technical stuff, and with a believable plot. Either English-language or Russian-language is fine; any other language better have subtitles. Zelda HD

Nintendo introduced the next generation of Wii at E3 2011 with some playable game, including Legend of Zelda, which is temporary referred to as "Zelda HD" by IGN. It looks very amazing indeed. Does Nintendo announce any information 'bout that game? Personally, I like Twilight Princess, but do not eager to play Skyward Sword much because of its character model. I think at the moment there are really no games that are complete and available for the Wii U - they're all in development still. At E3 they showed mostly demos and previews of the games as a result, and haven't really launched much detail for the games. As the console/controller is still about a year away from release not everything is quite ready yet, like it was at the original Wii's launch. Forgive me if I am wrong but I think this is the case. Probability Of Destruction In "Super 8"

Hey everybody. I've been wondering something about some of the special effects in the newly-released movie Super 8, which came out in theaters on June 10th, 2011. In it, there is a horrible train crash that involves a mid-sized pickup truck (think mid-90's F-150) driving head-on at full speed into a diesel freight train travelling at well over 50 mph. The collision immediately results in an explosion and the locomotive grinds to a halt. But the filled freight cars behind it continue to shoot forward under their own momentum an end up flying everywhere. This continues to occur as the rear of the train continues moving forward. What makes me think that this is unlikely is the immense speed at which the rear of the train continues to move. I mean, of course the effects of inertia would cause the cars to continue moving, but would they really move at such speed? If you have not already seen the movie, here is a link to that particular scene on the Internet Movie Database: Clip 1, and here is another that is longer, but shows a more complete view of the crash: Clip 2. If anybody could help explain or describe this better to me, it would be much appreciated. Basically, all I want to know is, is this scene probable, or is it simply "movie magic" that looks realistic, but defies the laws of physics. Thanks! Stripey the crab (talk) 02:33, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The pickup truck was not driving at full speed. It was on the tracks, bouncing up and down, and that would have been unlikely. But more importantly, the genre for this movie is science fiction. I thought the extraterrestrial's starship defied physics too, but I managed to deal with that. HiLo48 (talk) 02:44, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
