Andy Murray is a professional tennis player who is the current British number one and World number four. Murray made his professional tennis debut on the main tour in Barcelona in 2005 and has reached three grand slam finals. As well Murray has a career high ranking of number two.

So far in his career Murray has won a total of eighteen titles. This total includes six Masters 1000 Series titles, one exhibition title and one doubles title, with his brother Jamie Murray. He has also won over twelve million US dollars in prize money.

Career achievements

Murray reached his first grand slam semi-final and final at the 2008 US Open, where he lost in the final to Roger Federer in straight sets 6–2, 7–5, 6–2. Murray reached his second grand slam singles final at the 2010 Australian Open. However he lost to Federer in straight sets again, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6. Murray has won six masters series titles, and has finished as runner-up in one other masters series finals. Murray has qualified on three occasions to the Year End Championships. His best result was reaching semi-finals in 2008 and 2010, losing to the eventual runner-up on both occasions. In 2008 Murray lost to Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets and lost to Rafael Nadal in three sets in 2010. In 2009, Murray reached a career high ranking of number 2.
