Cold Rock Ice Creamery is an Australian-based ice cream parlour chain. It specialises in custom making ice creams by adding mix-ins. Cold Rock has 90 stores across all states and territories of Australia, as well as stores in the Phillipines, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.[1][2]

Products

Cold Rock is most widely known for it's customised flavours which result from combining one or more flavours of ice cream with selected 'mix-ins, including a range of candies, fruit, nuts and biscuits. This ice cream is mixed as the customer looks on, on a chilled granite slab. Ice cream is sold in waffle cones, cups, and take-home tubs.[3] Cold Rock also sells sorbets, milkshakes, and customised ice cream cakes. [4]

History

The first Cold Rock was opened in Aspley, Queensland in 1996 by founders, Selwynn and Valerie Barr. Within two years they began franchising. In 2008, the 80th store opened, located in Melbourne, Australia. [needs update]

Social Networking

Cold Rock, like many other businesses has embraced social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook as a way to promote it's stores and communicate with customers directly. The franchise itself has encouraged individual store managers to create their own Facebook pages to communicate with their customers.[5]
