John Robertson is a former Scottish footballer. Born in Edinburgh and despite being brought up as a Hibernian F.C. supporter he signed for Hibs rivals, Heart of Midlothian F.C., before leaving them briefly to play for Newcastle United F.C.. He returned to play for Hearts, where he spent the vast majority of his career, before playing briefly for Dundee F.C., then Livingston F.C..

He was also a Scottish internationalist, playing on 16 occasions for Scotland.

Whilst at Livingston F.C. he became involved in football coaching, and he left Livvy in season 2002-2003 to become manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C..
