Jo Gilbert is a film producer and casting director based in Holywood, near Belfast, Northern Ireland and runs The Real Holywood Production Company.[1][2]
As a Casting director working on the 1997 film The Brylcreem Boys for the Producer/Director Terence Ryan they were the first film producers to choose the Isle of Man as a film location since the 1936 film No Limit starring George Formby. Ryan based his movie there and used various locations on the island to stand-in for Ireland[3] As a result of the success and the islands tax-breaks for film-makers,[4] many movies have since used the island as a location.[5]
As a Producer she has recently completed the film,Closing the Ring (2007), directed by Lord Attenborough.
Her previous film credits as Associate Producer working with Director Terence Ryan on his film Puckoon (2002), Darkness Falls (1999) directed by Gerry Lively, The Brylcreem Boys (1998) directed and produced by Terence Ryan and The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1993).
She appeared on ITV's Airline as a disgruntled airline passenger who missed her easyJet flight.
As of December 2010, Ms. Gilbert is working to produce The Ribbon starring Ed Burns and Julia Stiles.
As a casting director
As Casting Director, her recent credits are The Jungle Book 2 (2003); The Second Jungle Book: Mowgli & Baloo (1997) and The Harpist (1997).
