Dan Stewart is a Democrat who represented the 25th Ohio House District,[1] which includes German Village, the Short North, Franklinton, and Hilltop areas of Columbus, Ohio. He was born and raised on Columbus's west side. The 1974 West High School graduate still resides in the Hilltop area of Columbus.[2] Dan has been a state representative since 2003. In November 2006, Stewart won re-election against Columbus resident Michael Wiles, a south side activist who is currently running for the Columbus Public School Board. Stewart won by a 69%-31% margin.

Dan regularly hosts Town Hall Forums and invites residents to speak with him and other elected officials from the community. In 2004, Dan won the Fire Fighters Legislator of the Year Award recipient. He has cosponsored hundreds of bills.

Dan was twice elected to serve on the Hilltop Commission, is a member of the Franklin County Democratic Party Executive Committee, is a member of the Hilltop Business Association, and is a member of the AFL-CIO and other community groups.[citation needed] Dan is also a ranking member of the State Government Committee.
