Arthur Johnston (politician)
Arthur "Art" Johnston is a politician and a retired police officer from Alberta, Canada.
He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for his first term in the 2004 general election representing Calgary Hays for the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party. He is currently a back bencher.
He attended the University of New Brunswick in 1979 and served 23 years as a member of the Calgary Police force. Prior to attending university he served 10 years in the Canadian Armes Forces attaining the rank of seargent. He served in a peace keeping role in Cypress.
Prior to running for provincial office he was a volunteer for the Progressive Conservatives and was active in municipal and community level politics serving as a community director and running for municipal council.
During his tenior in political office he has been involved in matters involving policing. He chaired the Special Constable Review panel and has been working with Solicitor General Harvey Cenaiko on new laws.
Art is married and has four children.
