Paraphrasing: Disi Water Conveyance Project
The IEEE journalist wrote this passage,
100 million cubic meters of water will travel from the desert to two reservoirs each year. About 40 million cubic meters will go to the Abu Alanda reservoir (1) and mix with some surface water from Wala (2) and treated brackish water from the Zara Ma’en desalination plant (3). The other 60 million cubic meters will go to the Dabouq reservoir (4) and blend with Wala surface water and the output of the Zai Treatment Plant (5), which treats water from the King Abdullah Canal (6). Amman’s used water is sent to the As Samra Wastewater Treatment Plant (7) and later used for irrigation.
which was paraphrased by candidate e2eamon:
The 100,000,000 m3 (2.2×1010 imp gal) of water will be divided between the Abu Alanda reservoir and the Dabouq reservoir. Approximately 40,000,000 m3 (8.8×109 imp gal) of water will be sent to the Abu Alanda reservoir where it will be diluted with water from the Zara Ma’en desalination plant as well as water from Wala. The remaining 60,000,000 m3 (1.3×1010 imp gal) of water will be sent to the Dabouq reservoir where it will be diluted with water from the Zai Treatment Plant as well as water from Wala.[1]
This good-article lacks page references. I provided one for a fact from the Heinrich Böll foundation report (not a journal), but I couldn't find another fact anywhere about 190 MCM, and left a [citation needed] tag. These were the only 2 sources that I checked in the article. Kiefer.Wolfowitz 01:51, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- For the 190 MCM- 190 is the proposed total extraction rate. It is not in the source. However, the current extraction in 90 MCM (sourced). The proposed additional extraction for the new project is 100 MCM (sourced). 100+90=190 MCM total when the proposed additional extraction is combined with the current extraction. --E♴(talk) 02:23, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- Also- this was also brought up in the GA review which can be seen on the talk page. --E♴(talk) 02:26, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- I looked again, and I cannot find the 100 MCM in the cited document. (Such addition would be permissible arithmetic and not synthesis.) Kiefer.Wolfowitz 02:35, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- It may not be in that specific source. Look at the first sentence of the design section. There are three sources for that section and the first one confirms the 100 MCM. I did not check the other two, but I believe they confirm it as well. --E♴(talk) 02:39, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Beating heart cadaver: DYK and (failed) GA nomination
A fact from Requests for adminship/E2eamon appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 18 March 2010 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
|
This DYK had 2 problems. It lacked a page reference. The subject "doctors" was wrong, because the source specified "intensive care unit staff", which in practice would mean that nurses would do much of the work. (The source's page had an anecdote about CWRU's UH/CC physicians, which may have prompted the error.) The source is visible at Amazon (p. 170).
In April of 2010, the candidate nominated the article for GA status, which was denied, because of the inadequate referencing (Reliability problems and failure to provide adequate references). Kiefer.Wolfowitz 02:28, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
