June Diane Raphael is an American actress, comedienne and screenwriter known for appearing in films such as Year One and Going the Distance. She co-starred in the Spike TV sitcom Players and currently in the Adult Swim comedy-action series NTSF:SD:SUV.

Career

After graduating from New York University, Raphael began regularly performing with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (UCBT) in New York and Los Angeles. At UCBT, her work included the long-running sketch show Rode Hard and Put Away Wet, written and performed alongside her comedy partner and best friend Casey Wilson. The successful two-woman stage show went on to become a official selection at HBO's 2005 US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado and also won Raphael & Wilson the ECNY Award for "Best Comedy Duo" in 2005. The duo's writing partnership has since branched out into films, they co-wrote the screenplay for the 2009 comedy Bride Wars, which they also appeared with supporting roles. The writing duo has also worked on script rewrites for upcoming comedic films for Anna Faris and America Ferrera.

As a film and television actress, Raphael has made guest appearances on shows such as Party Down, Happy Endings, Funny or Die Presents, Big Lake and Flight of the Conchords. She appeared with supporting roles in the films Going the Distance, Zodiac, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Year One. In 2010, Raphael co-starred as Barb in the improvised comedy series Players on Spike TV.

Raphael and writing partner Casey Wilson most recently wrote and starred together in the upcoming 2011 indie-comedy "Ass Backwards", which was filmed in Upstate New York in August 2010. Raphael and Wilson also recently contributed short stories to the 2010 book "Worst Laid Plans", based on the long-running stage show, which they frequently performed in.[1] Raphael and Casey Wilson are currently starring in the comedic stage show "The Realest Real House Wives", which they created with co-stars Jessica St. Clair, Melissa Rauch, Danielle Schneider and Morgan Walsh. The show started running monthly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in January 2011.

In February 2010, Raphael joined the rotating cast of the Off-Broadway play "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" (written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron) playing at the Westside Theatre in Manhattan.

Raphael currently stars with Paul Scheer in the live-action Adult Swim series NTSF:SD:SUV, which began airing it's first season on July 21, 2011.

Raphael and Casey Wilson are currently writing a new draft of the screenplay for the upcoming Universal Pictures comedy "The Bachelorette Party", described as a female version of The Hangover, set to star Anna Faris and Jennifer Garner. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) is attached to direct the upcoming comedy.

Personal life

Raphael lives in Los Angeles and is married to actor/comedian Paul Scheer. In December 2010, they began hosting the comedy podcast How Did This Get Made? along with comedian Jason Mantzoukas. The podcast is a roundtable discussion where Scheer, Raphael, Mantzoukas and other special guests try to make sense of bad films that make absolutely no sense.[2] Raphael also currently co-stars in Scheer's comedy-action series NTSF:SD:SUV on Adult Swim.
