Annie Jobbie, popularly known as Annie ( ആനി ) is an Indian film actress. In her career span that lasted for just three years, with sixteen films, Annie was among the successful lead actress in Malayalam cinema during the mid-1990s.
Her debut role was in Balachandra Menon's Ammayane Sathyam (1993). Her well known films include Mazhayethum Munpe (1995), Parvathy Parinayam (1995), Tom & Jerry (1995), Puthukottyile Puthu Manavalan (1995), and Swapna Lokathe Balabhaskaran (1996). She gave up acting after getting married to director Shaji Kailas, and is now settled in Thiruvananthapuram.
Career
Born in Thiruvananthapuram to Jobbie and Mariyamma Jobbie, Annie did her schooling at Holy Angels Convent and later at All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram. She was in her 10th std, when got a chance to interview Balachandra Menon, the famous film director for Doordarshan. Menon, who was looking for a new face for his latest movie, got impressed by her and offered her a role in his film Ammayane Sathyam . In 1993, Annie, thus made her debut with Ammayane Sathyam, pairing against Mukesh. Her performance as Ramkumar Thomas alias Parvathi brought her wide recognition following which several roles were offered. But due to a contract with Balachandra Menon, she was not able to sign any new film, which caused in losing some good offers including Kashmiram and Manichithrathazhu. Later in an interview, Annie had opened her mind that she really regretted in missing some good opportunities, especially that of Manichithrathazhu, which was later done by Vinayaprasad. Annie, then decided to concentrate more on studies and joined All Saints College taking Commerce as mainstream. But luck was waiting for her, which came in the form of Suresh Gopi, who offered her a role against him in Rudraksham in 1994. Annie accepted the role of Gowri, an innocent Brahmin girl, who gets trapped into a brothel. Directed by Shaji Kailas, Rudraksham, though was a huge flop at box office, brought her wide appreciation, opening ways to cinema. It was on the sets of Rudraksham, she fell in love with Shaji Kailas, whom she married two years later. Followed by Rudraksham, Annie was again paired against Suresh Gopi in Aksharam, directed by Sibi Malayil. But she was thoroughly disappointed as she had to do nothing in that film. It was Mazhayethum Munpe, directed by Kamal, that changed the destiny of Annie. Released in 1995, in the film, she acted against Mammooty, along with Shobhana. Annie's performance as Shruthi, a spoiled brat, who is busy playing pranks with her lecturer, succeeded in winning hearts of millions of movie goes. With the success of Mazhayethum Munpe, Annie became the top heroine in Malayalam cinema of the time. In a row she acted in half a dozen of movies, including Alancheri Thamprakkal, Mazhavil Koodaram, Parvathi Parinayam, Kalyanji Anandji, Tom & Jerry, Puthukottayile Puthumanavalan and Sakshyam. She also appeared in a song in the film Indian Military Intelligence directed by T.S. Suresh Babu along with Jayaram. By the end of 1995, Annie reached the peak of her career.
In the beginning of the year 1996, Annie paired against Jayaram in Swapnalokathile Balabhaskaran, a family movie directed by Rajasenan. This was followed by Mr Clean opposite Mukesh. But she shocked everyone on 1 June 1996, when she got married to director Shaji Kailas at the residence of actor Suresh Gopi in the presence of a few close friends. Though got married, and announced her retirement from acting, Annie completed two more films, Kireedamillatha Rajakkanmar and Mookillarajyathe Murimookan Rajavu, which were under production. She gave up acting after marriage and is now settled happily with her husband and kids at Thiruvananthapuram.

She gave up acting after marriage and is now settled happily with her husband and kids in Thiruvananthapuram. Annie after marriage to Shaji Kailas, got converted to Hindu and adopted the name Chitra. She and Shaji Kailas have three sons, Jaganathan, Sharon and Roshan. Recently, she launched a catering unit named The Big Oven.
