Dr. h. c. doc. Ing. Július Binder (* 12. september 1931, Bernolákovo, Slovakia) is an famous Slovak engineer, an manager and a former politician.

He studied on the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and was then active as a designer and head engineer of various construction projects.

As a director of the state firm Vodohospodárska Výstavba he played an important role in the finalization of The Gabčíkovo – Nagymaros Dams project.

Important Awards

In year 1994 he was awarded the title Dr. h. c. by the Slovak University of Technology. This was the first time such title was awarded to an alumni of the university.

In year 1995 he was awarded the 1st. class Rad Ľudovíta Štúra state award by president Michal Kováč.

In year 1996 He was awarded the golden double cross of the Slovak Minister of Culture.

In year 2004 pope Ján Pavol II named him a "Knight of Order of St. Gregory the Great"
