Hamburg Pavilion is a regional shopping center located along I-75 in Lexington, Kentucky. Initially completed in 2000, it is one of the state's largest shopping centers with 1,040,000 square feet (97,000 m2) of retail space.[1] It was named after the famous American Thoroughbred race horse, Hamburg, which was bred in Kentucky.[2] The centers anchor stores are Meijer's, Target, Kohl's, Dick's Sporting Goods, H.H. Gregg, and Wal Mart.[2] Large scale residential construction is taking place along the center's western and northern edges, over 20,000 people are expected to live there by 2015.[2]

Currently construction is under way to develop the 100 acres (0.40 km2) of the original Hamburg Farm on the other side of I-75, including a new hospital.[3]
