Extensive aerospace engineering experience with Boeing and Lockheed Martin (Project Orion), in addition to research undertaken at Kitt Peak National Observatory (variable stars in globular clusters), Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (atmospheric turbulence), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (earthquakes). Citizen Bee state champion (winning question concerning Immigration and Naturalization Service v. Chadha) and International Challenge geography champion (winning question concerning largest country in Africa), etc ...
My primary interests include the history of Christianity, Christian art (El Greco, Botticelli, illuminated manuscripts, Gregorian chant, Byzantine iconography, stained glass windows, tapestry, sculpture, ...), church and cathedral architecture (San Miguel, Chartres, Wawel, St. Vitus, St. Mark, ...), castles (Hohensalzburg, Alhambra, Conwy, ...), the history of philosophy, the history of cartography and early world maps, dystopian literature and cinema (Nineteen Eighty-Four, We, Brave New World, ...), antiquarian books, historic libraries (Abbey Library of St. Gallen, Trinity College Library, Vatican Library, John Rylands Library, British Library, Library of Congress, ...), the history of science, the history of mathematics, paleobiology (megalodon, titanoboa, ...), and space exploration.
