"John" is a song by American rapper Lil Wayne, and the second single from his upcoming album Tha Carter IV deluxe edition. The song features rapper Rick Ross, and has peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. "John" was released on March 24, 2011 on iTunes.[1] The song uses the hook from Rick Ross's song "I'm Not a Star" from his album Teflon Don.[2] The song title refers to musician John Lennon. The song was produced by Polow Da Don, Rob Holladay and Ayo The Producer.
Music video
The official music video was released on VEVO on May 12, 2011.[3] Birdman makes an appearance in the video and is directed by Colin Tilley, director of Look at Me Now by Chris Brown.[4]
Remixes
On May 11, rapper Ace Hood released a freestyle over the beat of "John", the freestyle was off his "Body Bag Vol. 1" mixtape.[5] Also on May 11, rapper Wiz Khalifa released a remix of 'John' entitled 'Chuck'.[6] Rapper Chamillionaire has freestlyed a verse along with the original lyrics on his "Badass Freemixes 2" mixtape. Tyga also release a version of the track called Well Done 2 on a mixtape with the same name. Jim Jones also released a freestyle.
