Tom Anderson (born October 13, 1975) is the founder of the social networking website MySpace. He is regarded as the face of MySpace, and shares names with the fictional character Thomas Anderson from the Matrix.
Anderson attended University of California, Berkeley from 1993 to 1996, and graduated in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in English.
From 1999 to 2000, he attended University of California, Los Angeles and graduated with a master's degree in film - critical studies.
In 2003, he and a few computer programmers set up the first pages of MySpace, and the site grew from there. It is currently the most popular social networking website on the Internet.
Tom has set up the site to add him to every new MySpace member's friends list to help people get started, or in case they need any help. This has the effect of breaking MySpace's "Extended Network" feature if a user does not remove him from his or her Friends list, as the member would then become an "extended" friend of every other MySpace member who has not deleted Tom by virtue of being "friends" with him.
