Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST), formerly known as Fairfield/Suisun Transit,[1] is a public transportation system serving the San Francisco Bay Area. It mainly serves the Solano County cities of Fairfield and neighboring Suisun City, with limited service to Yolo and Contra Costa Counties, as well as Sacramento. A detailed system map of the FAST service can be seen here.[dead link]

Bus service

There are fifteen (15) bus routes, with 11 local routes serving within Fairfield, Suisun City, and Cordelia, and 4 intercity (express) services. Two of the intercity services serve three BART stations in the East Bay, namely Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, and El Cerrito Del Norte. Another route provides service between Fairfield and Vacaville, and one express service serves communities north of Vacaville that goes all the way to Sacramento.[2][3][4] All buses are wheelchair-accessible, and most buses have bicycle racks provided.

Local Service

These routes operate from Monday to Saturday and do not operate on Sundays or on certain holidays (Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Memorial Day). All routes start and end their trips at the Westfield Solano Mall (Route 4, though, starts and ends its trip in Mission Village). Note that Saturday service is reduced from the weekday service.

Fares

Fares on the FAST system depend on how many zones (the number of "plus" (+)) a passenger travels. FAST passengers may not travel local beyond Fairfield and Suisun City; they must pay the "plus" fare.[3][5]

Transfers

Transfers are issued to a passenger once a fare (be it in cash, ticket, or pass) is deposited, and each route uses a different colored transfer to identify the route on which it was issued. Transfers are good for unlimited transfers within a one-hour period and can be used to transfer to any route except the route from which it was issued.

Local Travel

Transfers are good to free boarding to any other local FAST route.

Local to Intercity Travel

Transfers used to board intercity routes (see above table) are valued at the current FAST local rate and the passenger will be responsible for paying the difference in the total fare for the trip.

Example: A trip from Outer Fairfield (Routes 3A/3B) to Davis:

1) Passenger pays $1.50 on Routes 3A/3B towards Fairfield Transportation Center or Westfield Solano (transfer points)
2) Check on the Zone and Fare Tables to calculate total fare from Fairfield to Davis. On the list above, Fairfield/Suisun to UC Davis is +3 zones, and the regular fare is $4.75. With a transfer worth $1.50, it will be subtracted from the regular fare of $4.75, so the passenger will pay $3.25 in difference.
3) Board a Route 30 bus from either transfer points, present the transfer, and pay the difference in fare.

Between Other Transit Agencies

Fairfield and Suisun Transit transfers are accepted (either for free or for an additional fee) to and from the following transit agencies:

Paratransit Service

DART is the ADA paratransit complement to FAST's local fixed routes. This service is a demand response origin-to-destination service within the cities of Fairfield and Suisun City. Solano Paratransit is the ADA-Plus (exceeds the service area required by ADA) paratransit service that serves cities and unincorporated communities of central and northern Solano County. Vehicles are all wheelchair accessible.
