Koondukkili is a Tamil language film starring M. G. Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan in the lead roles. This is the only film where both of them had acted together. The screenplay and dialogues were by Vindhan, a popular social acivitist and reformist writer who in the path of the acivitist and reformist who had existed in literary and political world in Tamilnadu for many decades prior. He is one of them who entered the film industry starting the late 1940s where they found voice for their ideas and a means to communicate to the masses easily. The film was released in the 1954.
Plot
Koondukkili deals with the issues of poverty, greed, abuse of women and the poor. MGR is married to B. S. Saroja and they have a son. MGR and Sivaji Ganesan are friends. MGR goes to jail for a mistake committed by Sivaji. B. S. Saroja is left with no money or house to live. Sivaji tries to help her but he has his sinister motive, to have a relationship with B. S. Saroja. After she repeatedly refuses his attemtpts to help her, Sivaji starts to sadisticially taunt her. Meanwhile, Kusalakumari is in love with Sivaji. MGR gets released and saves his wife from Sivaji.
