Obama picture

[edit]

Hi. I see that you've been trying to change the main photograph on Barack Obama. I like the Capitol photo too, but unfortunately we can't use it, because it's copyrighted. Please see Question #17 on Talk:Barack Obama/FAQ.

Additionally, you may not be aware of the three-revert rule, a Wikipedia policy designed to prevent edit warring. When an edit you make is reverted, it's usually best to check the article's history and talk page, to see if there's a reason for the reversion; if you can't find a reason, it's usually best to put a note on the article's talk page. Violating the 3RR can result in being blocked. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 04:29, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Joe Wilson (U.S. politician), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. shultzc (talk) 05:13, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page Joe Wilson (U.S. politician). Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. 2help (message me) 05:15, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

reverts

[edit]

Listen, regarding this edit, you may be right or you may be wrong... but you can't just remove a source without adding one. Your edit summary said "see Michael Lux and Harvey Kaye", but you didn't provide a citation to Lux or Kaye. According to WP:NPOV, we have to try to present all sides fairly on Wikipedia. The way to do that it to change it to something like "Some scholars conclude that Common Sense introduced no new ideas,[ref] and probably had little direct effect on Congress's thinking about independence; others assert that (something -- say what, and include a reference to a reliable source, with page number)"

It's also far better to use the talk page when there are disagreements, to iron out a wording that supports all views. I'm not trying to lecture you here; I'm just letting you know the sorts of edits that won't get reverted. All the best, – Quadell (talk) 11:19, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
