Abhishek Manu Singhvi (born 24 February 1959) is an Indian politician belonging to Indian National Congress party and is presently a Member of the Parliament of India representing Rajasthan in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. He is presently the spokesperson of the Congress party.[1]
Singhvi recently was bogged down in controversy when he was not able to answer questions on the topic of Anna Hazare's fast and the Jan Lokpal bill. Upon being confronted by some difficult questions, he arrogantly walked out of the debate on national TV.[2]
Early life
Abhishek Singhvi was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan to Kamla and Laxmi Mall Singhvi, a renowned lawyer and India's former High Commissioner to the UK, who belonged to Bharatiya Janta Party.[3]
Political career
He is presently the national spokesman of the Congress party. He is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. .
Personal life
Abhishek Singhvi is married to ghazal and sufi singer Anita Singhvi. They have two sons, Anubhav (born 1st Dec 1984) and Avishkar (born 12th Oct 1987)[4]
