Adriana Ferreyr (born May 18, 1983) is a Brazilian actress, entrepreneur, real estate developer and philanthropist. She became a Brazilian soap opera star after appearing as a lead character on the soap opera. [1]
Early Life
Ferreyr was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil and at the age of nine joined the Companhia de Teatro Fernando Peltier, where she acted in several children's plays, among which: O Jardim das Borboletas (The Butterfly Garden), O Jardim das Abelhas (The Bees Garden), Turma da Mônica (Monica and her pals) and A Noviça Rebelde (The Sound of Music). At this time she took part in countless advertising campaigns, among which "Tem horas que bate uma fome... a Big Mac ad for Mc Donald’s, aired in Portugal.[2] When she was 15 she participated in an Exchange Program in the United States, where she resided for 10 months. Ferreyr was 16 at the end of the exchange program when she received a scholarship to attend Bard College at Simon's Rock but decided not to attend. Upon her return to Brazil and at the age of 16 she started law school at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. While in college, she continued to dedicate to her acting career and after two years she landed a role as a lead character in the prime time television soap opera Marisol – SBT – 2002, acting as the antagonist Vanessa Lima do Vale, Marisol's adopted daughter. She is currently pursuing a degree in economics and philosophy at Columbia University School of General Studies and living in New York City.[3]
Entrepreneurism
Ferreyr is dedicated to many successful businesses.[4] Her entrepreneurial career started when she was 20 and founded her first company, Fesa Enterprises, in the retail segment with kiosks in shopping malls in the west of the United States. At the age of 23 she started investing in the real estate segment, acquiring land in Brazil, and continues devoted to this activity. [5]
Philanthropy
Ferreyr's interest in social entrepreneurism started many years ago. She volunteered and worked for many charity organizations and is committed to carrying on her philanthropic work, especially on behalf of underprivileged children. Her volunteer work includes the association of Pioneiras Sociais (APS), Caminhos a Dinamarca Luz (maneiras de luz), na organization to help underprivileged children, ABRINQ Foundation, an NGO dedicated to the defense of human and civil rights of children and adolescents. In 2006 she founded the Tijuana Children's Foundation, an organization dedicated to help the thousands of children in dire needs and living in poverty in the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Ferreyr currently serves the president of Tijuana Children's Foundation. [6]
Family
Ferreyr is the daughter of Rogerio Ferreiro, owner and president of HGS - Engenheiros Consultores, he is a civil engineer who lives in Salvador BA [7] and daughter of Maria de Fatima Cardoso Borges. Her ex-boyfriend is billionaire George Soros.[8] [9]. Ms Ferreyr has previously accused Mr Soros of physical assault. However police investigating the August 2010 incident found her claims to be false and that no assault had occurred. [10] She is currently attempting to sue Mr Soros for 50million USD (New York State Supreme Court, New York County, No. 109256/2011)[11]
