Light bulbs draw their power from wires via a electrical / mechanical connections.

There are many different standards for these sockets created by de facto and by various standards bodies.

Some types include:

  • Medium E-27 (This is what Americans call a "normal" lightbulb)

NOTE: I'd like to find a reference to ANSI or similar standards so that we can remove the commercial links. NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association ) seems like a likely source, but I can't find the document there. Help please!
