America's Next Top Model, Cycle 17 (also known as America's Next Top Model: All-Stars and stylized as America's Next Top Model ALL ★ STARS) is the seventeenth cycle of America's Next Top Model and the eleventh season to be aired on The CW network. It premiered on September 14, 2011.[1] America's Next Top Model, Cycle 17 features fourteen returning models from previous seasons.
The judging panel, unchanged since Cycle 14, once again consists of Tyra Banks, Nigel Barker and André Leon Talley.[2] The first judging was conducted in front of a live audience.[3] The international destination for this Cycle is the Greek island of Crete.[4]
The promotional song for this cycle is, "You Make Me Feel..." by Cobra Starship Feat. Sabi.

The All-Star girls arrive one by one at the new house, and meet each other. Some of them were really happy while others were surprised at the choices of some of the returning models. Bianca was upset when Bre surprised her as they are friends in real life and Bre never told Bianca she was going to be on this cycle as well. Kayla was unrecognizable by some of the girls, and Camille's welcome was the least exciting as many did not want her diva attitude to be a part of this cycle. Once the fourteen models were settled in the house, they meet Mr. Jay, who informs them that they were going to do their first photo shoot in the house's backyard. The photo shoot would be about each girl's personality and what made them stars during their cycles. Bianca was upset when she was given a red weave as she is now trying to be a lady, and Shannon refused to use lingerie and chose a bikini instead, which made Jay confused. The personalities each model embodied were:
Model | Persona |
---|---|
Alexandria | Tough California Girl |
Allison | Quirky Doll |
Angelea | Girl from the Hood |
Bianca | Loud and Sassy |
Bre | Ghetto Fabulous |
Brittany | Party Girl |
Camille | Diva |
Dominique | Feminine/Masculine |
Isis | Confidence |
Kayla | Proud Lesbian |
Laura | Country Cutie |
Lisa | Wild Child |
Shannon | Angelic |
Sheena | Harlem but not Hoochie |
During the photo shoot, Isis, Angelea, Laura and Lisa were the best in the photographer's opinion. Bianca, Brittany and Alexandria struggled with their shoots. After the photo shoot, Jay told the girls they were going to be judged in front of a live audience at the Nokia Plaza, the first time in series history that a judging panel would be held in a public setting, and that the first guest judge would be Nicki Minaj.
At the panel, Dominique, Isis, Laura and Allison received good criticism from both the panel and the assembled audience, while the judges were confused about Alexandria, who had the most difficult time when a fan from the crowd insulted her. Tyra reveals to the girls that this week's decision was going to be made not only based on the pictures, but in the reactions of the crowd for the girls, and the girls with the crowd.
For the elimination, the deliberation panel was held privately in the room where the girls will be judged for the entire season. Isis' photo got the first call out, while Alexandria and Brittany landed in the bottom two: Brittany as the crowd barely remembered her, and Alexandria as she was the only girl with negative comments. In the end, Alexandria's polarizing effect spared her, and a shocked Brittany was eliminated.
