Kron Gracie is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and a member of the Gracie family. He is the youngest son of Rickson Gracie and grandson of Helio Gracie.[1]
Biography
Kron Gracie was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1988 to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master Rickson Gracie. He began his training under his father as a child. In 2008 at the age of 19, he received his black belt from his father.[2]
As a purple and brown belt he dominated his divisions with 51 straight submissions. During that streak he captured 5 Pan-American titles (one of them being the open-weight division) and 2 world championships.[3]
Personal
Kron is the youngest of four children to Rickson Gracie and grandson of the late Helio Gracie. He has two older sisters Kauan and Kaulin. In 2000, Kron’s older brother Rockson died in a tragic motorcycle accident.[4][5]
Circulating throughout the internet there are two videos of a young Kron Gracie playfully practicing his jiu-jitsu with his father Rickson. The first is a clip of a young Kron making his father “tap out” via an armbar from the movie "Choke," [6] a documentary about his father Rickson during the 1995 Vale Tudo World Fighting Championship in Tokyo.[7] The second is of them practicing backstage at the 2009 European Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships.[8]
When not competing he teaches jiu-jitsu at his father’s school in West Los Angeles, California[2] and helps run his father's association.[9]
