The Granite City Roller Girls (GCRG) is a roller derby league based in Aberdeen, Scotland. Founded in 2007, the league currently has a single team which competes with teams from other leagues.
History
The league originated as Roller Derby Scotland, established soon after the Glasgow Roller Girls, and was heavily involved in helping that league develop. The league soon renamed itself the Aberdeen Aces, but struggled to find practice space.[1] In November 2008, it began skating at the Aberdeen Lads Club, and was again renamed, as the "Granite City Roller Girls".
In August 2010, the league hosted Scotland's first roller derby tournament, with Glasgow Roller Girls, Auld Reekie Roller Girls and Dundee Rollergirls attending. It was attended by around 350 people.[2] The league were founder members of the UK Roller Derby Association.
