Signature
I have added back the signatures you removed. Please don't remove them again as it makes the discussion confusing and is considered obstructive to have a signature without a link to either your talk page, your user page or your contribution page (see Wikipedia:Signatures). If you don't want your IP to show for privacy or other reasons, please register for an account. Given the small number, it would probably be acceptable to sign your older posts with any new account but of course anyone looking through the edit history will still be able to find the IP. If you don't want this, make sure you always only edit while logged in to any account in the future. Nil Einne (talk) 05:51, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have abosolutely no idea what you're talking about? 75.6.243.251 (talk) 00:41, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- I mean I reverted your edits here [1] [2] where you removed your IP address signature from your messages. (I preserved the rewording of your message.) I have also tagged your edit here [3] with your IP address signature. As I mentioned, your signature should have a link to your user page, your user subpage or your user contribution page, in your case the pages for the IP 75.6.243.251. If you do not want any link to your IP, you are welcome to register for an account and sign your messages using this account instead. Nil Einne (talk) 05:49, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
However: I did not make those edits.Sorry, I re-reviewed them and realized that I did. 75.6.243.251 (talk) 23:47, 28 September 2011 (UTC)- Okay, another reason to register for an account then. Someone using this IP did. Since the person using this IP had been using it for over 7 days and had last used it about 5 hours ago when I wrote my message, I thought it likely it would reach the right target. However apologies for any confusion since it did not. 03:26, 29 September 2011 (UTC) Edit: Nil Einne (talk)
- Oh, so just because you're a user you can sign with five tildes, and I have to sign with four? 75.6.243.251 (talk) 00:05, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- No, that was an accident which I've rectified, apologies for any confusion. You're welcome to read the linked page on signatures if there's any further confusion but basically users whether IPs or with an account are expected to sign posts which should include a link to their user page or their user talk page or their contrib page. Some of the advantages users have is they don't need the account to be linked to them personally in any way (I'm presuming the reason you removed your IP is you didn't want it associated with the edits) and there should be no confusion about who made an edit (since an account should be used by one person only). Nil Einne (talk) 00:32, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- I don't get why you keep changing your comment. Just save it once, and then you're done. It gets very irritating having to click on the “You have new messages (last change)” button every time. 75.6.243.251 (talk) 01:04, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Could I ask you how you reacted to the death of Steve Jobs (also shown in the “In The News” section on the Main Page)? 75.6.243.251 (talk) 00:55, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
