Michael Le Vell (born Michael Turner on 15 December 1964 in Newton Heath, Manchester)[citation needed] is an English character actor, who since 1983 has played the role of garage mechanic, Kevin Webster, in the soap opera Coronation Street.[1]
He also played a paper boy Neil Grimshaw in 12 episodes of Coronation Street in 1981, two years before he got the role of Kevin Webster.
TV appearances
Besides starring in the long-running soap Coronation Street, Le Vell has also appeared on several gameshow programmes; some include an appearance on Challenge TV's Showbiz Darts in October 2006, where he went on to win the tournament[citation needed] , and he has also featured as a contestant on the second series of Gameshow Marathon[1] on which he was crowned Gameshow Marathon champion on 26 May 2007.[citation needed]
Personal life
Le Vell lives in Hale, Greater Manchester.[2] His wife is actress Janette Beverley who starred in the 1980s comedy 'Sharon and Elsie' alongside Brigit Forsyth. He has 2 children, a daughter and a son.[citation needed]
Le Vell was a director of Ratio Money, which went into administration on the 12 April 2010.[3] This business attempted to exploit a loophole in the Consumer Credit Act to allow people to avoid credit card debts.[4]
He is an avid Manchester United fan and frequents public houses the Griffin and the Stamford Arms, Bowdon.[citation needed]
In October 2011, evidence was brought up that claimed he raped a six year old over 9 years ago, although he strongly denies these claims, the accusations have had a great impact.[5]
