Mangal Dosha or Kuja= mind and body Dosha is an astrological combination that occurs if Mars is in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of the Vedic astrology Ascendant chart. A person born in the presence of this condition is termed a manglik. Planet Mars plays a vital role in causing loss of spouse, especially to cause widowhood to a woman.Mangli girls are apprehensive of widowhood as placement of Mars in the ascendant, 7th or 8th house. Dr. BV Ramana says that Chovvadosham (Kujadosham or Mangal dosha) nullifies in the following conditions:-
1.If Mars is in 2nd house in any of the signs of Mercury, i.e., Gemini or Virgo. 2.If Mars is in 4th house in own sign, i.e., Aries or Scorpio. 3.If Mars is in 7th house in exaltation or debilitation, i.e., Capricorn or Cancer. 4.If Mars is in 8th house in any of the signs of Jupiter, i.e., Sagittarius or Pisces. 5.If Mars is in 12th house in any of the signs of Venus, i.e., Taurus or Libra. 6.If Mars is in any house in Aquarius or Leo
According to Sage Parashar, the father of Vedic Astrology, Chovvadosham (Kujadosham or Mangal dosha) nullifies, if the spouse also has a similar affliction i.e. if the spouse is also a Manglik. Interestingly, the affliction may be strong in one case and rather mild in the other but nevertheless, if both are Mangliks (Mars afflicted horoscopes cases), the ill effects of Mars do not become critically operative for either partner.
This condition is astrologically believed to be devastating for marriage, causing discomfort and tension in relationship, leading to severe disharmony among the spouses and eventually to other bigger problems. This is attributed to the "fiery" nature of this planet. However, if a manglik person is born on Tuesday, the negative effects of Kuja Dosha gets cancelled by itself. Also, if two mangliks marry, the negative effects are believed to cancel each other out. However, Mars is not the only planet in Vedic Astrology that is supposed to affect the relationship and these effects should be seen in a broader perspective of overall astrological compatibility.
There is also a belief that the negative consequences for a single-manglik marriage can be resolved if the manglik first performs a ceremony called a kumbh vivah, in which the manglik "marries" a banana tree, a peepal tree, or a silver or golden idol (Murti) of the Hindu God Vishnu. Before her marriage to Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai one of India's most famous film stars faced a lawsuit, after being accused of entering into a "false marriage" ('marrying' a tree) by Lawyers on behalf of some human rights groups.[1]
Some believe that one Manglik should only marry another Manglik, the idea being that two negatives cancel each other out, creating a positive.
Although there are "Poojas" that can be performed to allow Manglik and Non-Manglik to marry each other. There are also some astrological remedies (Upayas) which can be used to resolve this Dosha.
An increasing number of individuals are placing less emphasis on Manglik dosha, during the selection of a life partner, as evidenced from the data from online matrimony sites. However, there is still a pretty large following of people who give credence to Manglik Dosha.
