Tolichowki is a major suburb in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.[1] The name Tolichowki come form the urdu word 'Toli' means troop and 'Chowki' is nothing but where these troops got settled. During the period of Abul Hasan Tana Shah, the troops of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir had his military troops position in this region which is in the vicinity of the Golkonda Fort of the Qutub Shahi kingdom. Still today, there are many historical mosques, tombs and other monuments in the surrounding arears. It is close to the IT corridor like Gachibowli, Madhapur, Manikonda and Kondapur, hence making it a preferred residential for people working in the IT industry. The real estate sector has received a boost due to its proximity to high end technology firms.[2][3]

Commercial area

The area has seen significant growth in commercial activities. A number of banks including UCO Bank, Andhra Bank, SBI are operating in the area. in Feb 2010 ICICI Bank is also starting operations in the area. Honda scooters has opened a sales and service center to cater to the growing demand of new generation 2 wheelers in the area. Maruti cars has also opened a service center in the neighbourhood.

The famous Mandar Restaurant, Arbaab Hotel, Rumaan Hotel and Takbeer Hotel and the oldest apartment called Moghal Residency. The neighborhood has got one single screen theater (Galaxy Theater) which runs shows in Telugu, Hindi and English.

Other local businesses include kabaah Hospital, Reliance Auto, Vijaya Diagonestics, Kashish and pepe Jeans. The Yousuf Tekri Complex houses several restaurants, shops, and a Reliance Mart shopping mall.

Public transport

There are many buses which connect to different parts of the city, as it is located close to Mehdipatnam bus depot. Other mode of public transport are shared 3-wheeler auto which connects Tolichowki to Mehedipatanam, and shared 7-seater ply on the same route as that of buses.
