- If you wish to make a substantial change to a page, you should first discuss it on the article's talk page. For instance, for Kuala Lumpur, you should explain why you think the changes you propose are necessary on Talk:Kuala Lumpur. If everyone else agrees, then the change will go through. — Yk ʏк yƙ talk ~ contrib 14:04, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

An IP, no doubt the author, restored the article without the AfD notice. I have put the AfD notice back, but left the text of the article - if it were to be kept, it would indeed need editing down to remove all the unsourced and irrelevant stuff, but during the AfD I think it's better to leave it for people to see. DYK for Death of Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed
On 6 August 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Death of Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed was the second person in two years to die while in the custody of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Requesting review of a revert here
I did not think my revision was POV. I was trying to correct the promotional language used in that article, including the overuse of titles like "Dr" or "PhD" (which I clarified). Furthermore, at least one major contributor to that article has admitted to working in the office of the politician of whom the biography details.

Could you please force the IP user to use discussion
I actually do not mind that much which revision is on while we talk it out with editors, but what I do mind is senseless antagonism and reverting an addition for no reason other than "it's been expanded by LGDP again!" and doing nothing to save the content of an article. All I want is discussion. [1] However the IP user generally never returns to discussion after the article of dispute has been restored to his "right version" -- because the IP user has no interest to, and the IP user has no interest in the project. This is why I want to proceed directly to arbitration; the IP places the interest of his possible employer or his personal vendetta over the interests of the project. The IP user does not care about discussion, mediation or policy, if those things do not benefit him, and has currently enjoyed a most extensive lack of scrutiny over its actions. elle vécut heureuse à jamais (be free) 21:14, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Welcome to the Wikipedia Ambassador Program
Hi YK!
Congratulations! Your application to join the Wikipedia Ambassador Program as an Online Ambassador has been accepted.
First off, I apologize for the following info-dump. If you're wondering how to get started or are wondering what's going on, please contact me.
If you haven't already done so, take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines: Wikipedia:Online_Ambassadors/Guidelines
The "mentorship process" section lays out approximately what will be expected of you as a mentor. If you'd like, you can also volunteer to be the coordinating online ambassador for a class or two.
Please add yourself to the top of the list of available mentors, and note the number of students you think you'd like to mentor next term (it doesn't have to be a final answer, this is just to help with matching students and mentors once the students start getting active) and if you'd like to take on the coordination role for any classes note that as well: Wikipedia:Online_Ambassadors/Mentors (Don't add yourself to the lower "Additional online ambassadors section; that's for ambassadors-in-training and ambassadors who are already mentoring all the students they want to take on.)
To coordinate between Online Ambassadors and Campus Ambassadors, we've been using a Google Group as a mailing list. It's not required, but almost all the ambassadors are on it. Would you like Sage to subscribe you? Email him with your email address if so.
You can also check out the first two ambassador newsletters, which have more detail about what's going on right now. You'll get future editions delivered to your talk page.
If you use IRC, please consider adding #wikipedia-en-ambassadors and #wikipedia-en-classroom to your channel lineup.
If you have any questions, please let me know. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 00:11, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Ambassador welcome
Just want to welcome you as a new Online Ambassador! Thanks for signing up to help with the U.S. Political Parties course with Prof. Shamira Gelbman. According to the course timeline, each student should be registered on Wikipedia today. I've welcomed each student, but I expect a few stragglers signing up after class today. With 70 expected students in the course, I was getting a bit anxious waiting for additional assistance. If none was forthcoming after today, I was gonna start kidnapping Ambassadors from other courses! If you have any questions regarding the program or working with students, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page or through email. I look forward to working with you! Interview with Wikimedia Foundation
Hi Yk, I hope you are well. My name is Matthew Roth and I'm a Storyteller working on the 2011 fundraiser with the Wikimedia Foundation in San Francisco. In past years, we've relied on Jimbo to carry the bulk of the fundraising weight and he's done very well helping us hit our yearly funding targets. This year, however, we're broadening the scope and reach of the fundraiser by incorporating more voices and different people on the funding banners and appeals that will start running full-time on November 7th. We're testing new messages and finding some really great results with editors and staff members of the Foundation. You can see the current progress of the tests here. I'm curious if you would want to participate in an interview with me as part of this process? The interviews usually last 60 minutes and involve a number of questions about your personal editing experiences, as well as general questions about Wikipedia and its impact in the world. Please let me know your thoughts by emailing mroth (at) wikimedia.org. Thanks! Matthew (WMF) 00:10, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

- @Sdsummer: Sarcasm works to no effect here. At the time of the revert, how was I supposed to know you were the author of the article? Why should I believe you anyway? Even if so, do you think it is appropriate to copy and paste an entire article into an encyclopedia article? Even if so, you did not attribute the source, which is required in Wikipedia, whether you are the author of the source or not.
- If you want to contribute positively to Wikipedia, go forth and add a summary of your newspaper article to the James Brown article and don't forget provide a citation, preferably with a link to the article. —Yk Yk Yk talk ~ contrib 04:12, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
