Gene Murphy (born August 6, 1939 - died October 29, 2011) is a former American football player and coach. Murphy was the head coach of the University of North Dakota from 1978 to 1979, and California State University, Fullerton, from 1980 to 1992, when the college dropped football. He then coached at Fullerton College.
