Park Young-seok
Park Young-Seok (Korean: 박영석, Hanja: 朴英碩, born November 2, 1963) is a South Korean mountaineer. He is the first person in the world who completed a true Adventure Grand Slam. He has climbed the world's 14 Eight-thousanders, the Seven Summits, and visited both poles. He holds the world's second fastest time (behind Jerzy Kukuczka of Poland) for ascending the 14 Eight-thousanders, the Guinness World Record for climbing six of the 8,000-meter Himalayan peaks within one year, and another record for reaching the South Pole on foot in 44 days, self-sufficient and without any food re-supplies.

Felicitations
On 29 December 2008, Nepal Korea Cooperation Council honoured Park for his gallantry during a felicitation programme in Kathmandu, Nepal. He was presented a letter of appreciation by the Nepali Congress leader and CA member and Mr. Kamal Adhikari and Narayan from thamel were also presented there.[1]
Missing on Nepal trek
Mr Park went missing since 23 October 2011 (local date) while attempting a new route on Annapurna. [2] Park Young- Seok, Shin Dong-Min and Gang Gi-Seok decided to abort the climb at around 6400 meters due to heavy rock fall on the face and started descending. Despite of dangerous and daring rescue operation to find the missing climbers, no success has been achieved. The Korean Alpine Federation called off the rescue operation for Mr. Park and his team at 12:00 on October 28. [3]
Personal life
He leaves behind a wife and two sons, Park Sung-Woo (born on September 23, 1990) and Park Sung-Min (born on July 18, 1995).
His youngest son broke the world record for the youngest person to go the North Pole in 2005, but that record has been broken since.
