The Rural Municipality of Minto is located north of Brandon, Manitoba and was named after Sir Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 4th Earl of Minto in 1902.

The R.M. is 144 square miles (370 km2) in area and primarily agricultural as its economic base. Minnedosa is the largest town located within the boundaries and supplies the majority of services required by the inhabitants. The separately administered town lies between the municipality and the Rural Municipality of Odanah, to the south.
