Peradeniya is a city on the outskirts of Kandy in Sri Lanka. It is situated on the A1 main road connecting Kandy to Colombo and is only 1km outside of Kandy.

Peradeniya is famous for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty boosted by its scenic location on the banks of the Mahaweli River. The Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden is by far one of the best botanical garden is Asia. This natural paradise is a heaven to all living beings alike. Also the infamous Hanthana mountain lies close by to the city.

Another key attribute of this city is the University of Peradeniya which is the second oldest Sri Lankan University and is also considered to be one of the best in the country. It is ranked highly among the international academic community as well. The city also hosts a bundle of good hotels as well.

The population of the city is approximately 50,000.
