The Unistraw® is a beverage-flavoring straw system created in 1997, and released commercially in 2005.

The Straw

The straw is based on a patented filter technology, which utilises a transparent plastic straw that contains a filter system. Inside the filter system are little flavor pellets, called UniBeads. When the bottom end of the straw is inserted the beverage and the consumer sucks on the straw, the liquid dissolves the beads and creates the flavouring.

Sipahh®

Sipahh® Milk Flavouring Straws are the primary current output for the UniStraw technology. The flavour range starts with chocolate, strawberry, banana, and caramel; and each Sipahh milk flavouring straw will consistently flavour a 250-300mL/ 8.5-10.2oz glass of milk. According to the Unistraw website, one Sipahh straw adds only half a teaspoon of sugar to a glass of milk.

Future Applications

The Unistraw team hope to have brands based on their technology in the flavoring and ingesting industries of energy and sports, nutraceuticals and vitamins, medical nutrition and pharmaceuticals.
