'''Internet Killed Television''' is a web series which documents the lives of Charles Trippy and his wife Alli Trippy.[1][2]
The show consists of episodes averaging around ten minutes that are filmed, edited, and then aired everyday onto YouTube by mid-afternoon Eastern Standard Time (early evening Greenwich Mean Time). The series was originally planned to last for only one year; however, after the success of the season, the couple has decided to continue.
Background
Internet Killed Television is commonly known by its fan base as CTFxC which stands for Charles Trippy Family Core (formerly Friend Core).[3] As of October 19, 2011, the series has 536,131 subscribers; making it the second most subscribed reporter channel on YouTube.[1][4] The web series gathers an average of 150,000 views per episode, which brings the show to have over 216,146,926 total upload views.
The web-series also refers to itself as a "home-made reality show" due to its format of a first person perspective that directly follows the Trippy's activities with a typical video-blogging (vlogging) style of the couple filming both of their surroundings including their dogs Marley and Zoey.[2] Internet Killed Television also has its own website which features embedded versions of each day's vlog.[5]
Furthermore, the Trippy's additionally broadcast live shows upon the Internet through BlogTV.[3][6] Much like their web series, these live shows attract a large audience, with Trippy's account (which they use for the live streams) being the second most subscribed account on BlogTV, holding over 17,820 subscribers. During live shows, they also give away free items to the viewers.[6] He continues to have over 1000 vlog videos in his channel making one vlog a day.
Production
The show is shot with a Canon PowerShot Elph 300 HS (Bought on 5/12/11), Canon PowerShot SD 3500 IS (Canon IXUS 210), Canon PowerShot SD 780 IS (Canon IXUS 100 IS), or an iPhone 4S when the main camera is not available. Sometimes, it is shot with a Canon 7D. For action shots, Charles uses a GoPro HD camera. In earlier episodes, Trippy used a Flip UltraHD camcorder or an iPhone. It states on the show's website that the series is edited on Apple's Final Cut Pro via a Mac Pro (or a MacBook Pro when traveling).[3] Charlie Puth composed the show's early theme tunes, and various viewers have contributed their own versions. "dubblekickrick" created the most current and common theme, though Terabrite covered this and are more often used for the outro song. The theme tune has changed several times including one to celebrate Trippy and Speed's engagement. The show also features a somewhat traditional 'title card', which others have contributed to the show—usually featuring the show's logo - and plays at the beginning of each episode. As October 18, 2011, 1000 episodes have been made. All videos on the channel total 1,018, and total upload views equal 213,511,096.
Cast
Charles Paul Trippy III was born on September 2, 1984 in Sarasota, Florida and raised in the neighboring city of Bradenton, Florida. He started making videos on YouTube in May 2006. He has also taken part in other web series and ongoing vlog series such as: ShayTards, Prank House, Shoot the Banker, The Elevator Show, Retarded Policeman, PrankvsPrank and The Annoying Orange, where he plays a lemon.[7] His father, Chaz Trippy, played percussion in the Gregg Allman Band when Trippy was younger.[8] He was also the bassist in a band himself, called Suspense Thriller.[9] Charles is good friends with Hunter Burgan of AFI, as well as members of We The Kings Travis Clark and Danny Duncan. As of September 21, 2011, Charles will temporarily be the bassist for Florida-based band We the Kings, as current Bassist Drew Thomsen is taking a break from touring with the band. It was firmly stated that the vlog will continue as normal. [10]
Allison Rose "Alli" Trippy (Speed) was born on August 13, 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Sarasota, Florida. Trippy (Speed) graduated from Florida State University on April 29, 2011, where she majored in Spanish with honors and attained a GPA of 3.85. She has also taken classes in RE. She graduated from the NewGate-Field School, a private Montessori school, in 2006.
Many of Allison's friends star on the show such as Datev Ghallager, a cute quirky film major. Some more common appearances are Allison's brother Justin Speed as well as Charles' sister Melissa Trippy.
Alli and Charles got married on Sunday, November 20, 2011.
