Ilmenite, also called also titanic iron ore, is a weakly magnetic iron-black or steel-gray mineral found in metamorphicand plutonic rocks. It composed of an iron titanium oxide in crystalline form and is in fact a commercial source of titanium metal. It is commonly massive, but also occurs in rhombohedral crystals.
