Harpertown

Harpertown - eight or quad core?

Here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_future_Intel_Xeon_microprocessors#.22Harpertown.22_.28standard-voltage.2C_45_nm.29

it is listed as quad-core, but in this section (and on main Xeon page) it says it's 8-core. I beleive it should be listed as quad-core, regaldless of 2P configurations.

Family/Model/Stepping

The Family/Model/Stepping column seems totally unnecessary given that only two entries out of dozens make use of it. I will remove it in a few days if there are no objections. 208.66.208.200 19:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

adding column with year of introduction?

I think that a column should be added with the year of introduction. Andries 11:46, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a bad idea. Two remarks: 1) Some codenames relate to products that were never introduced. 2) Good luck on finding all the dates. It must be possible but it's going to be a lot of work (but then again so was composing this list in the first place). The Seventh Taylor 13:12, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely agreed, I actually came here to point that out when I read this. :) Sorting on that would suddenly make this list a chornological history of codenames as well, and also assist users in finding the codename for recent technologies. But yes, it'll take some work of course. — Northgrove 12:05, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with having the year, but so far the few entries in this column have full dates. Are the month and day really worthwhile? Also, what does the date mean? Is it the first public mention of the code name? Snoofer (talk) 03:04, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adding sortable column of prodct?

Wouldn't it make sense to add a column of what product the codename corresponds to, such as Processor, Centrino Platform, Chipset, etc., and thus have it sortable for users? I'll see what I can do later today. Suigi (talk) 00:39, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tillamook

Tillamook, an older mobile Pentium processor is missing —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.67.144.184 (talk) 17:06, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Almador core

There is no such county as "Almador" county in california. There is an "Amador" but that's all. Thus to speculate that the Almador codename is a CA county is incorrect.149.136.17.253 (talk) 16:05, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is according to List of school districts in California. Do I misunderstand something here? The Seventh Taylor (talk) 06:49, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, the peril of relying on Wikipedia for accurate information :-) Good to see you've changed the "Named after" to "Reference unknown".

Aliceton

As a successor of Tigerton, it may refer the the film "Alice in Wonderland". A Tiger appears to her from time to time, and explains the strange world. --Ddeml (talk) 11:37, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most of "Named After" entries should be removed?

According to WP:NOT: "Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation...Articles that present extrapolation, speculation, and "future history" are original research and therefore inappropriate." None of the text in the "Named After" column is referenced and a good portion of it is entirely speculative - e.g. "Possibly Lake Windigo, Minnesota" - so it shouldn't be in this article right?

Thoughts? -- Hux (talk) 18:07, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

––

I concur. This is not what I'd call encyclopedic, it's mere speculation without citation. Perhaps if someone could get some docco from Intel to verify this it'd be more "useful" information, but until then... well, what's the point? I can run a google search on a name as well as anyone else and say "Possibly named after...".

Creeks

What can be said about codenames ending in "creek"? (Bridge Creek, Rock Creek, Salt Creek, Soda Creek) Can anything be generalized about them? The Seventh Taylor (talk) 10:20, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And what about recent names ending in ~son? I guess Kittson, Madison, Paulson are all Itanium family members but where does Robson fit in?
Also, what about the "ville" suffix? (Diamondville, Lyndonville, Millville, Paxville, Postville, Sodaville) The Seventh Taylor (talk) 07:20, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Missing entries

The following codenames (mostly recent but not all) are yet to be added:

  • Romley Done
  • Polaris Done
  • Waimea Bay Done
  • Patsburg Done
  • Oak Trail Done
  • Canoe Lake Done
  • Tunnel Creek Done

I will add them later on but feel free to do so already. The Seventh Taylor (talk) 00:34, 16 September 2010 (UTC) Plus:[reply]

  • Lyndonville Done
  • Postville Done
  • Soda Creek Done
  • Glen Brook Done

The Seventh Taylor (talk) 22:27, 5 October 2010 (UTC) Thanks Snoofer for all the work done. I was going to suggest Oak Trail, Stellarton, Tunnel Creek, Cedar Trail, Lyndonville, Ramsdale, Larsen creek, Cherryville, Paint Creek, Elmcrest, Airmont and Silvermont but I noticed all of them are done already. The only new one yet missing then seems to be Brickland; see [1] The Seventh Taylor (talk) 00:00, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. I have added Brickland to my list of missing codenames, which has about 45 names on it. Currently I am doing a sweep through the list cleaning up the descriptions, adding an interesting detail or two about each one, and putting in the years. Snoofer (talk) 01:42, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More impressive work today! The Seventh Taylor (talk) 01:12, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IDF 2011

New codenames so far:

  • Clover Trail
  • Red Ridge [2] Done
  • Knights Ferry Done
  • Knights Corner [3] Done

The Seventh Taylor (talk) 23:42, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would add Clover Trail, but I can't figure out whether it's a SoC in its own right, like Medfield, or a platform that includes the Cloverview SoC. Snoofer (talk) 22:30, 20 September 2011 (UTC)"[reply]

This article [4] suggests the latter. The Seventh Taylor (talk) 13:48, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That article states that Cloverview is the platform and Clover Trail is the processor. And this one [5] states the opposite! Snoofer (talk) 00:23, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This official Intel presentation [6] mentions Clover Trail as a platform (slide 30) but then again so it mentions Medfield in the same chart... The Seventh Taylor (talk) 15:10, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Skylake microarchitecture

Also missing:

  • Skylake Done
  • Skymont Done

See Intel Core (microarchitecture)#Technology or Skylake (microarchitecture) The Seventh Taylor (talk) 12:09, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
