From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Zundark (talk | contribs) at 10:20, 6 April 2002 (add other meaning (from Licence)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

A license, (or less commonly licence), is a document or agreement giving permission to do something.

The holder of a copyright may often require that a license is accepted in as a condition of being allowed to reproduce the copyrighted work. This is common in computer software.

License is also a state of liberty, and is sometimes used as a synonym for licentiousness.
