The Sittingbourne Community College, commonly abbreviated SCC is an 11-18 school located in Sittingbourne, Kent, with just over 1100 students. The school offers a Post-16 unit, which offers a variety of courses.

Currently Alan Barham is the Headmaster of the school.

School facilities

The College is very attractively landscaped with mature trees, shrubs and flower borders. Within the site there are currently over 30 acres of playing fields and 12 tennis/netball courts. There is also a floodlit multi-play outdoor complex. Our Sports Centre houses squash courts, two gymnasia and a sports hall and is open until 10.00pm each evening for student and community use.

The College’s academic facilities are housed in eight blocks which encompass modern science laboratories; specialist technology workshops; art, drama, music, dance and sound and vision recording studios; a sports conference room; extensive ICT suites equipped with over 600 computers.[1]

Headmaster

Alan Barham is currently the Headmaster of the school, having more than 20 years of being a Headmaster at schools, 17 years at Sittingbourne Community College.[2]

Uniform

The colour scheme of the uniform is gold and maroon. Students are required to wear a long or short sleeve white t-shirt with a bold, maroon label stitched on the collar "SCC".[3] Black trousers, girls are allowed to wear skirts but cannot be shorter above the knee. Years 7, 8, and 9 must wear a gold striped, maroon tie[4] and Years 10 and 11 boys must wear a two-striped tie, the bottom half is gold and the top half is maroon, including a gold comedy/tragedy mask,[5] however, girls do not need to wear a tie. Lastly, they are also required to have a maroon blazer which contains the school logo stitched on the pocket.[6]
