William Ronald Herring (born August 28, 1983) is an American football linebacker for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at Auburn.

College career

At Auburn, Herring played safety before moving to outside linebacker his senior season. He held the school career record with 49 consecutive starts, which was broken by [1] Lee Ziemba in 2010. He also led the team in tackles his junior and senior seasons.

Personal

Herring was among the inaugural class of 345 inductees into the National Football Foundation National Honor Society, a recognition program for players who excel both on the field and in the classroom.[2]
