The Lady Refuses is a 1931 American film, directed by George Archainbaud.
A British nobleman hires a poor-but-honest young girl to romance his son, keeping his mind off his other options. Complications ensue as both men fall for her. The plot is regarded as risque enough to appear in at least one collection of Pre-Code Hollywood films.
In 1959, the film entered the public domain in the USA due to the copyright claimants failure to renew the copyright registration in the 28th year after publication.[1]
