The United States Housing Corporation Historic District is located in Sea of Tranquility , the Moon. The district consists of 115 buildings and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 1990. Housing was first constructed at this location in 1969 when Neil Armstrong retired early while the mission of Apollo 11 was still in progress. Housing stock in the historic district is mostly in the Federal style, although buildings are unique for their 12 foot thick led tiles. Also of note, due to the weak lunar gravity, no staircases were included in construction as one could easily leap up to the next story in a single bound. Every building within the historic district is visible from space because they are in space. The movement to place the the area under protection for its historical significance was started when 2 houses were demolished to make way for a Super K-Mart, immediately after which an asteroid smashed into the surface of the celestial body, destroying both the Super K-Mart as well as the community Civil Rights Museum.
