Critical Response

The movie was released to mostly mixed reviews from critics and trade pundits of Telugu Film Industry. The Hindu commented that the movie is a Wholesome package and Pure entertainer quoting "Puri Jagannath has proved that he's still the director with Midas touch with his latest release(Businessman)".[22] The Times of India gave 3.5 stars out of 5, said ""Businessman" is a typical Puri Jagannath film loaded with attitude and style. The narrative moves along at a breakneck speed hardly giving you time to catch your breath. The action is gritty and realistic without going overboard. All in all, it's an unpretentious entertainer that manages to strike the right balance. It might not be a cinematic wonder but sure has enough in it to keep you interested till the end".[23] Another critic Sunita Chowdhary from The Hindu cited as "The Businessman has a mix of action, image, dialogue and montage but what makes it entertaining is that all the above quantities are inextricably bound and linked together at every level with an admirably tight script. It is a regular story but structurally, technically and content wise, the director makes no mistake.[24] Oneindia.in gave a mixed review, adding "There is only one actor in the film who is everywhere – it is none other than prince Mahesh Babu. It is not a regular film with the regular dose of action, comedy and entertainment. It is a serious film and hence its appeal is very limited. The film may be liked by the fans of Mahesh Babu but for the general audiences it is just an average film".[25] Rediff which gave 2.5/5 says that "After Pokiri, Puri Jagannadh and Mahesh Babu strike back with Businessman. In fact the combo roars and will do well at the box office too. The film is in Puri's usual style -- slick and stylish. It's filled with loads of entertainment but without the comedians. There's no doubt that Puri Jagan has played to the gallery and kept the masses and Mahesh's image in mind while conceiving this film. It's just Mahesh all the way, despite the presence of other actors".[26] idlebrain rated the movie with 3/5 stars noted "Mahesh Babu’s Businessman is all set to live upto it’s title. On a whole, Businessman is Mahesh Babu’s one man show".[27]. greatandhra gave a positive review with 3.25 stars out of 5. CineCoffee also given rating of 3.25 out of 5.
